I went back to Cambridge at the end of April and attended my congregation. It was so great to see so many colleagues for the first time after the end of program. 122 out of 160 students came back to Cambridge.
Graduation ceremony has a lot of rules (as same as other Cambridge official events..) Here are steps to attend the ceremony.
Application for the congregation Strangely, congregation is held every several months through the year. Not once a year. You need to apply to your COLLEGE to attend the congregation on certain day. Graduation is held by university, so you need to apply it via your COLLEGE. Not via JBS. Once your congregation day is confirmed, you need to prepare for the attire.
Attire Dress code for congregation is strict (and confusing). Here are the guideline (for men).
-Black (or quite dark color) suite or tuxedo -White shirt -Black socks -Black shoes -Gown -Hood (normally, MBA's color is green) -White bow tie -White thing (something that I wrapped around my neck)
Gown, Hood, White bow-tie etc. can be rented at some shops in Cambridge. I rented at Ryder&Amies (at Kings Parade). They can be booked via online. (it costs around 40GBP).
I recommend picking up rented staffs before the day of the Graduation. Graduation events start quite early in the morning...
The day of congregation
Students gathered at JBS at 9am. Group picture was taken. Afterward, students went to each college. We took a cab to Wolfson (It was raining)
At the college, the attire was checked and we ran through the rehearsal for receiving the certificates. After the lunch, we walked to Senate house where graduation event was held.
Photography is prohibited inside Senate house. The pic was automatically taken (same system as amusement park) and can be bought afterwards)
In the evening, JBS held a congregation party (where director's list was announced) and after party...
Probably, congregation might be the last moment where so may MBA colleagues gathered together... Now I feel I become an alumni of Cambridge, and Cambridge life was in the past...
